Applications

Silicon wafer semiconductor chip

Semiconductor Chillers

Insulon Hose Standard is ideal for chiller applications from -20C to -80C. (For cryo-chillers or fluid temperatures at -100C or below, see Insulon Hose with MLI.)

Cable and wire harnesses in high temperature environments need thermal insulation

Process Heating and Cooling

Available with metric (M16, M24, M30, and M38) end fittings ideal for connections to process heating and cooling equipment from leading manufacturers.

Process cooling and chillers

Cryogenic Dispensing

Insulon Hose Standard is ideal for cryogenic dispensing and other intermittent cryogenic transfer applications. (For continuous cryogenic transfer, see Insulon Hose with MLI. )

Thermal Insulation Performance

Insulon Hose Standard is optimized for fluid temperatures from -80°C to 250°C. For applications across the full Insulon Hose operating temperature range (-270°C to 815°C / -454°F to 1500°F), engineers can specify Standard where outer diameter envelope, weight, flexibility, or cost are the governing design constraints. Thermal insulation data for a 1/2″ ID, 6-foot Standard Insulon hose is shown below.

Cryogenic Insulation Performance

Chart - Insulon Vacuum Jacketed Hose LP - Cryogenic Insulation Performance
This chart illustrates the difference between the media temperature (LN2, -196°C) and the outer surface temperature (aka “touch temperature”). At steady state, the outer surface temperature of the Insulon Hose Standard was more than 205°C (369°F) warmer than the process media.

High-Temperature Insulation Performance

Chart - Insulon Vacuum Jacketed Hose LP - High Temperature Insulation Performance
This chart illustrates the difference between the media temperature (hot air) and the outer surface temperature (aka “touch temperature”). When the process media was 900°C (1652°F), the temperature difference (Ī”T) was over 640°C (1150°F) at steady state.

Features & Benefits

The right thermal insulation can optimize thermal energy efficiency

Thermal Insulation

Insulon Hose Standard is engineered with proprietary vacuum insulation to help conserve thermal energy, reduce heat waste, and improve overall efficiency. (For maximum thermal insulation performance, see Insulon Hose with MLI.)

Condensation can lead to dripping and mold

Reduce Condensation

Proper thermal insulation helps reduce condensation on the outer surface of the hose. By limiting the accumulation of moisture, Insulon Hose Standard helps prevent dripping, frost, corrosion, and the risk of mold growth. (For maximum reduction in condensation, see Insulon Hose with MLI.)

Flexible vacuum insulated hoses with low springback characteristics

Flexibility with Low Springback

Insulon Vacuum Jacketed Hose provides flexibility with low springback for reduced stress on connections, fittings, and joints. View the product catalog for technical specifications including minimum static bend radius.

Fibrous thermal insulation materials are messy, high-maintenance, and difficult to install

Non-Fibrous Insulation

Fibrous insulation materials can be cumbersome to install, inspect, and maintain. They can become compressed over time, reducing their effectiveness as an insulator. They can also release fibers, causing problems with contamination and inhalation. Insulon Hose provides a non-fibrous insulation solution for cleanrooms and other sanitary manufacturing environments.

FAQ — Vacuum Jacketed Hoses

  • Depending on the type of end fitting selected, the fitting will either be installed on the hose before shipment or will be delivered in-box.

End fittings that are installed before shipment:

    • CGA-295 Brass
    • JIC swivel nuts
    • Other flared end fittings
    • Flanges

End fittings that are shipped in-box:

    • Compression unions
    • Compression adapters (NPT, BSPT, etc.)

End fittings are an optional add-on. Insulon Hose may be ordered without end fittings, in which case they will be delivered with fully-weldable 316 stainless steel tube stubs.

  • Yes, bulk discounts are available for qualifying orders. Request a quote →

  • No, vacuum jacketed hoses cannot be cut to length after delivery. They must be ordered in the correct size. Insulon vacuum jacketed hose are available in lengths up to 20 meters (66 feet).

  • LP stands for low pressure. Insulon Hose LP is engineered for low pressure fluid transfer applications. Select product diameter to view pressure rating. For high temperature applications (above 38 degrees Celsius), a pressure derating factor is applied. Contact us for assistance. Insulon Hose LP is available in two performance levels:
    1. Standard
    2. Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI)
  • HP stands for high pressure. Insulon Hose HP is engineered for high pressure fluid transfer applications. Select product diameter to view pressure rating. For high temperature applications (above 38 degrees Celsius), a pressure derating factor is applied. Contact us for assistance. Insulon Hose HP is available in two performance levels:
    1. Standard
    2. Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI)
