The right insulated hoses reduce load on temperature control equipment

Share on:

Temperature control units (TCUs) are critical for high-precision thermal processes in a range of industries. Applications include semiconductor fabrication, pharmaceutical manufacturing, aerospace, biotechnology, and research laboratories. These sensitive manufacturing processes employ industrial chillers and heating circulators throughout both fabrication and testing processes.

The importance of insulated transfer lines

Industrial chillers and heating circulators bring thermal fluids to temperature and then transfer the fluids through insulated tubing to their target location. As the conduit that carries the coolant, oil, or other fluid from point A to B, the insulated tubing has significant impacts on the effectiveness and efficiency of the chiller or heater. Insulon Vacuum Jacketed Hoses offer a novel solution for process heating and cooling, helping to ensure that process temperatures are reached more efficiently. Benefits include faster time to temperature and reduced operating costs.

How do Insulon hoses work in process heating and cooling applications?

Insulon Vacuum Jacketed Hoses help glycol chillers, cryogenic chillers, and hot oil circulators achieve maximum energy efficiency and faster time-to-temperatures. Engineered with advanced vacuum insulation for unparalleled performance, Insulon hoses help optimize thermal precision for temperature control systems ranging from -270 to 815 Celsius (-454 to 1500 Fahrenheit).

Compatible with PTFE/PFA inner hoses

The internal surface of Insulon Hose is corrugated stainless steel 316. If your application requires a smooth bore or non-metallic wetted surface, Insulon Hose can be sleeved over PTFE or PFA tubing.

Combine PTFE or PFA tubing with Insulon Vacuum Jacketed Hose maximum thermal insulation with smooth bore, non-metallic wetted surfaces.

What is the “STAMPED” information?

The acronym “STAMPED” refers to all the information you will need to build your Insulon Hose assembly. It stands for:

  • Size: Diameters include 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, and 1″ ID. Lengths from 0.5 to 20 meters.
  • Temperature: Fluid temperatures from -270 to 815 degrees Celsius (-454 to 1500 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Application: What is the fluid used for? Do you need to improve energy efficiency, safety, process control, or another parameter?
  • Material: What type of fluid is it? Is it compatible with 316 stainless steel, or do you need a PTFE or PFA liner?
  • Pressure: What is the maximum working pressure? Insulon Hose is available in both low pressure and high pressure options. For high temperature applications (fluids above 38C/100F) a pressure derating factor at temperature is applied to the MAWP rating.
  • End fittings: Insulon Hose are available with a variety of end fittings to connect to your system. Choose from a wide range of compression unions, reducers, and adapters including NPT, BSPT, and other threads. Flared swivel nuts including JIC and CGA fittings are available. Insulon Hose tube stubs are fully weldable 316 stainless steel. The tube stubs are annealed to ensure proper fit with compression fittings.
  • Delivery: How many hoses do you need? What is the need-by date?
