Insulon Vacuum Jacketed Hose, Low Pressure, MLI, 3/4″ ID

Request a quote

Insulon Vacuum Jacketed Hose, 3/4″ ID, Low Pressure, MLI. Outer diameter: 2.38″. Minimum static bend radius: 9.41 in. Low-pressure rated to 43 psi at RT (≤100°F / 38°C). MAWP decreases at elevated fluid temperatures; see derating table below. MLI blocks radiation heat transfer in addition to vacuum insulation for maximum thermal performance. Recommended for cryogens at the lowest temperatures (LHe, LH2) or continuous cryogenic flow where radiation heat gain is significant. Rated operating temperature: -270°C to 815°C (-454°F to 1500°F). Inner bore: 316/316L stainless steel, fully annealed. Made to order in the USA. ~3 weeks ARO.

Description

Insulon Vacuum Jacketed Hose — 3/4″ ID, Low Pressure, MLI. Inner bore: 316/316L stainless steel, fully annealed corrugated tube. Outer diameter: 2.38″. Minimum static bend radius (static installations): 9.41 in.

MLI variants add proprietary high-density multi-layer insulation (MLI) inside the vacuum annulus, blocking all three modes of heat transfer: convection, conduction, and radiation. This delivers the maximum thermal insulation performance in the Insulon hose product line. MLI increases outer diameter and minimum bend radius compared to Standard variants but does not affect pressure ratings or operating temperature range. Recommended for: cryogens at the lowest temperatures (LHe, LH2), continuous cryogenic flow (hours/days), chiller fluids below -80°C, or any application where radiation heat gain is significant.

Low Pressure Insulon hose rated to 43 psi at RT (≤100°F / 38°C). MAWP decreases as fluid temperature increases above 100°F — see derating table below. Typical applications: chiller supply/return lines, LN2 transfer with transient flow, liquid CO2 service, low-pressure process gas lines.

Compatible Fluids for Insulon Vacuum Jacketed Hose

  • Cryogenic liquids: liquid nitrogen (LN2), liquid helium (LHe), liquid argon (LAr), liquid oxygen (LOX), liquid natural gas / liquid methane (LNG / LCH4), liquid CO2
  • Hydrogen: liquid hydrogen (LH2) and gaseous hydrogen (GH2). 316/316L stainless steel resists hydrogen embrittlement.
  • Thermal fluids and coolants: glycol/water mixtures, Syltherm 800, Syltherm XLT, Dowtherm Q, Dowtherm J, other synthetic heat transfer fluids, cryo-chiller fluids
  • High-temperature fluids: steam, hot air, exhaust gases, process heating oils
  • Specialty and process gases: GN2, GHe, GAr; semiconductor precursor, carrier, and deposition gases
  • Corrosive media: optional PTFE, PFA, or FEP fluoropolymer liner available — wetted surface becomes chemically inert for broad compatibility

Not compatible with cryo-compressed hydrogen (CcH2). CcH2 operates at pressures exceeding the MAWP of all standard Insulon hose variants. Contact Concept Group for a custom solution. If system pressure at operating temperature exceeds MAWP, apply the derating table below or contact engineering.

Insulon Hose Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP) by Fluid Temperature — 3/4″ ID, Low Pressure

MAWP is constant from cryogenic temperatures through room temperature (≤100°F / 38°C). For fluid temperatures above 100°F, use the derating table below. Round UP to the next 100°F row for conservatism (e.g., a 320°F system uses the 400°F row). All assemblies are pressure tested at 1.5× MAWP per NAHAD Corrugated Metal Hose Assembly Specification Guidelines.
